IELTS Speaking Part 2 Question

Describe an interesting conversation you had with an old person.

You should say:

  • Who you had it with
  • Where you had it
  • What the conversation was
  • And explain how you felt about this conversation

Sample Answer

I once had a very interesting conversation with my grandfather, who is now 80 years old. We talked in his small garden, where he grows vegetables and flowers. It was a sunny afternoon, and we sat under a big tree while he told me stories about his childhood. The conversation was about how life was different when he was young. He explained that there were no smartphones or computers, and people spent more time talking face-to-face. He also shared how he met my grandmother and the challenges they faced together. His stories were full of details, like how he rode a bicycle to work every day and how the neighborhood looked back then. I felt very happy and amazed during this conversation. It was like stepping into the past and seeing the world through his eyes. I also realized how much things have changed and how lucky we are today. Most importantly, I felt closer to my grandfather because he trusted me with his memories. It was a special moment I will never forget.
