IELTS Speaking Part 2 Question

Describe an ideal and perfect place where you would like to stay.

You should say:

  • Where it would be
  • What it would look like
  • What special features it would have
  • And explain why it would be an ideal place for you

Sample Answer

My ideal and perfect place to stay would be a cozy beach house on a quiet island. It would be located somewhere warm, like the Maldives or Bali, where the sun shines almost every day. The house would be small but comfortable, with big windows to let in natural light and a wooden deck outside where I could sit and enjoy the ocean view. The house would have two bedrooms, a small kitchen, and a living area with soft sofas. The walls would be painted in light colors, like white or light blue, to make the space feel calm and peaceful. Outside, there would be a hammock between two palm trees and a small garden with colorful flowers. One special feature would be a rooftop terrace where I could watch the sunset every evening. Another would be a private path leading straight to the beach, so I could go for a swim whenever I wanted. The house would also have solar panels to be eco-friendly. This place would be ideal for me because I love the ocean and the sound of waves. It would be a peaceful escape from busy city life, and I could relax, read books, and enjoy nature. I imagine waking up to the sound of birds and spending my days walking on the beach or snorkeling in the clear water. It would be my little paradise.

Tips & Strategies

When answering the IELTS Speaking Part 2 question about describing an ideal place to stay, here's how you can structure your response naturally. First, introduce the place—maybe a beach house, a mountain cabin, or a city apartment—and say where it is. Then, describe what it looks like, like the colors, size, or style. Next, talk about special features, like a big garden, a cozy fireplace, or a rooftop view. Finally, explain why it's perfect for you—maybe it's peaceful, close to nature, or full of things you love. Remember to use simple words and connect your ideas smoothly. Don't rush; take your time to paint a clear picture. Also, practice speaking for 1-2 minutes so you don't run out of things to say. Keep it personal and relaxed, like you're telling a friend about your dream place!
